The Mills, Rock, Bogotá.
The Mills are a rock band of Colombia with headquarters in the city of Bogota. The identity of this harmonious group is very much influenced by Britpop. Their first LP called Babel, reached the post No. 1 in the Colombian radio stations Radioactiva and La X. This group is led by Roberto Andrade Dirak.
Between the years 2007 and 2009, The Mills were influenced by alternative rock bands such as U2, Radiohead and Coldplay, this band was formed in 2007 and released an EP entitled 'I don't care what they think'. It was written with lyrics in English and was produced by Luis Charry, guitarist for The Hall Effect.
The band gained recognition as one of the new bands in regard to Colombian rock, according to an article published in the Colombian edition of Rolling Stone magazine, that great praise for the band by their British influences and by its great quality in the sound. In 2008, The Mills launched to the market two singles, 'Let It Go' and 'Before I go to sleep'. The Mills were also invited to attend the opening ceremony in the 'Colombia Fest', supporting the bands Mars Volta and R. E. M.
Between the years 2009 and 2011, The Mills launched its first album: Babel. This album was recorded in Bogota by the record label Cabeza de Raton and shows a mix of alternative rock, indie rock and Latin rock. This first album has 13 songs in Spanish and English with great quality as: Abran Fuego and Before I go to sleep. This album also has a cover of the popular theme Lobo hombre en Paris of the rock band La Union. These simple positioned The Mills at the top of the best Colombian rock bands.
